April 14, 2009 – The following obituary appeared in the AV Press over the weekend. Many of you had Mr. Pohlman as a teacher or knew him through his role in administration. His obituary doesn’t cover the impact he made on the many who knew him.
PASADENA – Howard J. Pohlman, 89, of South Pasadena, passed away Friday, April 10, 2009 at Palms of Pasadena Hospital.
Howard was born in Batesville, Indiana. He moved to the area in 1988 from Lancaster, California. Howard was a WWII Army Air Force Veteran, a retired member of the Association of California School Administrators, and St. Petersburg Yacht Club. He loved golfing, fishing, camping and traveling.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruthellen; nephew, Tony (wife-Thania), St. John; and grandchildren, Liza and Lexi.
Services were held at St. John Beach Memorial Chapel, St. Pete Beach.
