Oh man!! This is a toughy. I was at Edwards from the 2nd grade thru the 10th. I have sooo many memories....in the early years it was chasing whirlwinds on my bicycle...then came JR. High, and it was flag football and chasing GIRLS...then came High School and basketball and track and WOW! what a difference between Jr. High and Sr. High girls. Wonderful memories all ingrained along with the desert sand in my heart.

Biography
On leaving DHS, I did the 11th grd. in Alabama, while my dad was transfered to England. The family caught up with him in Alconbury England. I finished H.S. at Lakenheath American H.S. Returned to Ala.(my home state) and did 2yrs. at a Jr. college, with an Assoc. in EE. Quite going to school and "lo and behold" I got my draft notice. Being smart,(ha ha) I went ahead and joined the Army Scurity Agency...basic training at Fort Jackson SC, schooling at Fort Devons MA,jungle traing at Fort Ord CA. A year in Viet Nam with a Radio Reasearch Co. in Pleiku. Got out in '73 took flight training, became a commercial pilot then a flight instructor. Joined the Postal Service, retiring next year (2002). Married to a beautiful Italian (Jeanette) have two married sons..Michael Scot 30, Christopher Todd 26 Anyone know what happened to my buddy Mark Farmer?

Favorite Memory
traveling around with the Scorpionettes. Dancing at the Teen Club, hanging out in the desert at night listening to Wolfman Jack, being in a parade in Bakersfield with the Scorpionettes.....

Biography
I live in the foothills east of Sacramento, near my parents and brothers. My current vocation is selling advertising for a radio station, writing commercials, and doing promotions. My boyfriend is a construction jeanyus, and his thick neck is getting skinnier as he turns into a computer nerd. I don't have any kids, but I do have a big dog named CoCo. Would like to hear from my old friends, and maybe someday we'll have a '65 reunion.

Update to previous bio:
Married my boyfriend, Ron, the construction "jeanyus",custom home builder, 5/99. Changed careers 4/99, became a realtor in one of the fastest growing California counties, Placer. I'm in email touch with Larry Ward, Tom Babits, Tom Norton, Ellen Fields, Melody (Stouffer) MacGregor, & Blaine Halley. Have spoken with Steve Cranney, and my brother Nelson ('69) went to a reunion and is in touch with lots of others. Send me an email, love to hear from YOU.

Favorite Memory:
Playing in the band; being on the cross country and track teams.

Biography
After graduating, I made a false start at college at UCLA, didn't work out so I ended up at AVJC for the rest of '66. Moved to Florida when my dad was transferred; was a bad decision, since I couldn't afford college there and couldn't get a job -- so ended up getting drafted. Decided to keep dad happy and enlisted. Spent three years in Army as a medic and hospital lab tech. No I didn't go to Nam -- ended up in Korea instead (43rd Surgical Hosp). Spent last year in army at Ft. Devens MA as lab tech (44th Surg. Hosp). Moved to Michigan in 1970 to go to school. Still there. Got a BS in biology and an MS in Biochemistry. Work as a computer programmer for Ford Motor Co. (it's a long story). Married in 1976, have two sons ages 14 and 12. My free time is spent coaching and reff'ing soccer, managing the video ministry at my church and working on my house.

Favorite Memory:
The dummy pull between the seniors and faculty members Wrestling championships at the regionals

Biography
I don't think I was a nerd then, but could have grown into one...with very little assistance. Am now married and have two children, Andy, age 20 studying law at University of Colorado and Allyson, age 14, studying how to make me crazy and doing very well. Wife, Carol is a third grade teacher at a small rural school east of Colorado Springs. I work for US West, the local serving phone company as the Service Manager for Colorado and New Mexico. I travel a lot between the two states, but gives me time for my passions, fly fishing and trapshooting. Have been in touch with a few DHS Alumni, most notably Tom Babits ('65) , living in France and having a ball. I went through a bout with stomach cancer this past year...not fun, but I lived, (always preferrable to the long lasting DIRT NAP). All is well now, and I am preparing to take off for Elk and Deer hunting here in Colorful Colorado. Really enjoy the Website and look forward to hearing from anyone who was at Desert.

The year it snowed on the Joshua trees. Our great football team. living next door to the Yeager boys. Skate boards my Dad made. The best was white washing the rocks on top of the hill.

Biography
Okay I do ot remember being too nerdy but maybe so. We retired after my junior year. Ended up in Alabama. I am a registered nurse, retired. married to an engineer type person, that should be unbelieveable to everyone. We have five children. The last daughter that will hopefully attend Auburn in the fall. We live in the country on 26 acres that back into the national forest. Have Labs and Goldensans barn cats. Several grandchildren - all that live in Alabama.

I would love to hear from anyone that remembers our great years together. I have often wondered about those that went to Vietnam. I protested and now know that was wrong, so much for being young.

Favorite Memory
Marching down the street with the band and Scorpionettes. Phil Hamilton's and Helen Lindsey's classes.

Biography
Have been married 27 years to Stan, whom I met at UCLA. He's a general mgr for EBSCO, an information systems co. We have 2 boys, one at CU Boulder, and the other a senior in h.s. We left Calif. 11 years ago for Denver, which we really enjoy, especially the skiing. I'm an English teacher, and have taught at the local community college and high school for the past 10 years. I accompanied my mother in law, who is French, to Paris and Capdenac, France for a family wedding. We had a great time-- I love practicing my French and eating that wonderful food. In fact, I think AF life really nurtured my love for travel. Stan and I are going to Egypt in April for the first time. We're looking forward to being empty nesters. I get to Lancaster on a fairly regular basis, since my parents still live there. Attended Chuck Yeager's 50th anniversary of breaking the sound barrier at Edwards a couple years ago, and ran into Dorothy Howerton and Mike and Don Yeager. I thought we all looked pretty good!

Favorite Memory
Today is Feb 29, 2000. A single favorite memory isn't possible; perhaps the DHS Marching Band - and the one day MR. Thompson got totally frustrated with the band's attitude, flung his baton at his music stand, and sprayed the band with little pieces of plastic. At the time I thought this was hilariously funny. We did produce some pretty good music and could march fairly well.

Biography
Well, yeah. Nerd - ok. Best classes: Chemistry & Algebra. Worst: English & PE. Learned trombone because Mr. Thompson asked me to. After all I was dating his daughter, Chris. I had supposed that if I wanted to continue, I'd have to do his bidding. Ended up enjoying the horn and have played it on and off ever since in community concert bands or some such.

Best friends: Jerry Thorpe, Jim Walsh, John Bradley, Harry Parmley, Isaac Taylor, Larry Self, Steve Dell, Jackie Demaris, Marty Woods, Mike Ahlfors, Daniel Wiley, Shawn & Sharon Sweeney.

After graduating, Dad was stationed in Japan. Went there, attended college at Sophia U, as did Steve & Melanie Dell and a few others I can't recall at the moment. Had a blast, learned to speak, read and write Japanese, then returned to the states to blow college and enlist in the good ole USAF. Learned computer and RADAR maintenance and computer programming.

Four years later was married with two children and out of the service and out of work. Found some in the San Francisco area where I lived for nearly 20 years.

After nearly 35 years finally graduated with a BSCS and work for a biotech lab in Maine.

Divorced and remarried. Between my wife, Carol, and I we have 6 children aging from 24 to 37.

Ayup, be good to hear from you from time to time.

Favorite Memory
Splitting an order of fries five ways at the coffee shop and playing “Blue Moon” on the juke box ten times in a row. Pooling our change and buying 47¢ worth of gas. Long summer afternoons at the officers club pool. Going to every game, caring so passionately about the team…and that long bus ride back from Needles. The teen club, especially when the music was live. And the algebra teacher (help, someone, what was his name?): he couldn’t teach me algebra but I’ll never forget Descartes and “I think, therefore I am.” The spring break trip to Balboa and the trip to Disneyland. And the cars—has there every been such a wonderful collection of vintage cars with such outrageous paint jobs?

Biography
When I left Desert the middle of my junior year for San Rafael High in Marin County, I left the only school I’d ever gone to for more than a year. So it’s no wonder that Desert holds the most important memories—especially since I then went on to yet another different school for my senior year. After graduating I went to Cal State Long Beach for a couple of years; during the second year I worked nights at Douglas Aircraft Then I went back up to San Francisco—was I the only member of the counterculturee in our bunch?—from there to London and then, in ’69, to New York, where I’ve been ever since. My dad and brother are still in California (Walnut Creek and San Diego), so I do get back out every couple of years. I worked in the film business for a few years (mostly on commercials, though I did work on one feature in Italy), drove a cab nights for a year, then spent seven years at a weekly newspaper where everyone was, like me, an artist working at a day job. Married a brilliant but unreliable musician—we split out time between New York and east Tennessee—after two kids he opted out of fatherhood, but 20 years later we’re still friends. After the paper closed I worked freelance as a typesetter and photographer for a few years, then spent four years at a small international law firm. For the last ten years I’ve been at a nonprofit think tank, teaching computer software to the ever-changing staff. My students are mostly recent college grads, although I also get a few generals, admirals & former ambassadors in class each year. Right now both my kids are back home temporarily. My daughter, Skye, is 22 and on her way to Paris next week, where she’ll be studying at the Sorbonne. Hank will be 21 next month. He’s a junior at the College of Wooster in Ohio but came home for the semester with mono—the only cure still seems to be lots of sleep. It was great to see the reunion pictures. The last people I saw from Edwards were Rick Yellen when he was still at Stanford and Pam van de Velde when we were both in Santa Moncia. I’ve thought of many of you often, so was glad to find this web site & look forward to coming to the next reunion.

Favorite Memory
I have many memories of Desert High both sweet and bittersweet. Now that I look back on some 30 something years of living in the Los Angeles area is probably the quietness and serenity of Desert High when a student really got a quality education.

Biography
I was very shy during my years at Desert High, I really did not participate in many school activities although me and my sister Frances Hollis class of 1966 were very active in the Desert High School choir. After the family left Edwards we re-located to the Los Angeles area, where the family still resides today. I have been married and divorced once I have one daughter Desiree, and she and her husband have blessed me with three grandchildren, Anthony, Essence, and Juwan, they are truly a blessing. I currently work as an Administrative Assistant at a local community college, if any 60's kid reads this message please call me at 310-900-1624. My sister Fran is doing quite well, she is married to an attorney in the Los Angeles area, and will be shortly getting her Ph.D from USC. She was always the brainy one. She has 2 children, Ramon graduated from Yale University, and her daughter Iman is currently enrolled at Columbia University in New York. My other sister Cynthia class of 68 or 69 passed away in December 1999 of complications from asthma. She left behind her husband Reggie and three children, Laura, Troy, and Sirius. She will be sorely missed from us for the rest of our lives. She was a Registered Nurse for many years, and was valedictorian of her nursing class. The rest of our siblings went to school in the LA area. My father Senior Master Sargeant James Hollis Jr. passed away in 1989. Compared to the hustle and bustle of the city the Antelope Valley is still a small piece of tranquility. At least once a year I go out to Lancaster and Palmdale to see friends. Who knows maybe one day I will get out to see Edwards again and show my family where I went to high school, what an experience. Would love to here from any one in the class of 64,65,or 66 in particularly. Shawn and Sharon Sweeney where are you? Lorita Watson where are you, and Isaiah Taylor, Billy Wynne, Pogo, Cynthia Harrell, just a few of the names I can remember. Oh well by for now.
