Biography
I only attended Desert for my freshman and sophmore years and then
moved to El Centro where I graduated from Central High. I attended
the Air Force Academy with Desert classmates Jim Anderson and Ron
Hindmarsh. I don't know what Ron's doing now, but Jim's a 737 pilot
for Southwest based in Phoenix. Other Desert alums that were at
the Academy then included Larry Howerton, Mike Howe, and Mike Dingus.
After graduating from the Academy, I went to Purdue to get a Masters
in Aero and Astro. I flew as a fighter pilot and forward air controller
in the Air Force and then came back to Edwards to attend the Test
Pilot School in 1979. I worked as an F-15 test pilot at Edwards
from 1980-83 and 1988-92 with a four-year tour as an F-18 test pilot
with the Canadian Air Force from 1984-88. I retired from the Air
Force in 1992 and have worked as test pilot instructor at the National
Test Pilot School in Mojave since then.

Biography
Oh, no, it isn't someone's memory of me being a nerd. I WAS one!
I was the one who could not tell anyone that my favorite music was
1920s jazz and pop. Following graduation....or, more precisely,
when Desert High recommended I leave, I joined the Coast Guard.
After four years I returned to my first duty station, Morro Bay,
California, in order to attend the local (Cuesta) Community College,
and from there, Cal Poly University at San Luis Obispo, CA. After
a five year stint as a radio reporter, and news director, I took
a part time position as Telecommunications instructor at Cuesta
College. When I was offered a full time position as the Program
Manager at the public radio station (KCBX), I accepted and cut my
teaching load to one class. My passion remains 1920s jazz and pop
(this is definitely not to be confused with Big Band Swing). Several
years ago I began remastering the original 78 recordings attempting
to remove as much surface noise as possible. The finished product
is transfered to CD for distribution. It's a never ending appreciation
of the artistry that was so plentiful before our time. Once you've
heard a Bix Beiderbecke cornet solo sans surface noise .... ah,
but I digress. Another passion is driving around the British countryside
(after all, they do drive on the correct side!) visiting small towns,
pubs, and Roman ruins. Least I forget the joy of sucessfully producing
a radio play or drama. The most enjoyable, but pressure filled,
was the live on-air presentation of "Sorry, Wrong Number."
Those phones must ring at exactly the right time, or else! I've
been married once, divorced as many times, and have an incredibly
talented step-daughter in her Junior year at Dickenson College,
PA. I'm too impressed with her abilities to think that I had anything
to do with the results. That must be about it. Since no one at Desert
High between 1961-1967 will remember me, I don't know to whom I
am writing (Mrs. Lindsey would be proud of that sentence). Be that
as it may (a colloquialism thrown in to offset the prior, more proper
form), does anyone have knowledge of the whereabouts of Charlie
Lightner, Harry Parmaly, Rene Linpinsky, Joe Hearn? To list everyone
would be unnecessary. Is there a list of grads? What happened to
that great bowling team?

If anyone would have told me in 1958 when I first came to Edwards,
that I would still be here 42 years later, I would have told them
they were out of their mind. But here I am still enjoying life in
the Antelope Valley. I am married with two beautiful god daughters
that I love to spoil, I work for Lockheed Martin as the Chief of
Operations at the F-16 Combined Test Force. It is a job I have had
for a number of years and still find it exciting and challenging.
When not at work I am deeply involved with an emergency room based
program,Antelope Valley Hospital Sexual Assault Response Service,
that provides crisis intervention for sexual assault survivors of
all ages. I have done this for 11 years and continue to have a passion
for the work we do. I am especially fond of working with the children
and watching their recovery process. They are truly amazing. I still
bowl (thanks to Stan Duel who put me on my first bowling team) but
I also enjoy golf. I very much look forward to hearing from some
of the early '60's grads.

Biography
After high school, it was off to the Army and Viet Nam. DaNang 65-66,
got back and stationed in Sacramento area. Wore out my new Plymouth
GTX driving back and forth to Edwards. I was making a serious move
on Nancy Gugliotte (class of 65). As things worked out, she let
out just enough rope to catch me and we were married in 68. We promptly
set out for Germany (I was still in the Army) where we spent the
next 3 years. Had a great time, but decided that a military career
was not what we wanted to do. I got out in 71 and we moved back
to the Antelope Valley. I went to work for the Air Force as a civilian.
In 73 we had all the desert we could stand and I transferred to
the Air Force Academy. Had a wonderful time in Colorado, but career
called and we moved to Tucson where I went to work for the Air Force
Plant Representatives Office at Hughes Aircraft. After 4 years in
Tucson, I got the call to go Albuquerque to the Headquarters for
the Air Force Contract Management Division. Up to this point Nancy
had been a "follower" in a two career family. In Albuquerque
her career took off first as an Editor for the Defense Nuclear Agency
and then as a Contract Administrator for the Phillips Laboratory.
We spent the next 15 years in Albuquerque where I ended up as the
Deputy Director of the Quality Assurance Directorate for the Contract
Management Division, I managed 1200 "civil servants" at
28 different Contractor locations across the country. I have been
blessed with the ability to thrive on pressure. During the Reagan
years my guys were buying $20 Billion a year in Airplanes, Satellites,
and the like, and yes, they also bought those famous $600 toilet
seats and $10,000 Nuclear hardened coffee pots for the C-17. During
our Albuquerque assignment I spent a lot of time in and around the
Valley, due to the various Contractors located there. I took early
retirement in 1990 and spent a few years consulting for the Aerospace
Industry. After 5 years of way too much road time consulting Nancy
decided it would be a good idea to get a real job. I accepted a
job with Fluor Corp, an international construction firm that had
gotten into the environmental remediation business for the Department
of Energy. We spent 3 years in Cincinnati and are currently located
in eastern Washington at the Hanford Site. You can't begin to imagine
the Nuclear waste and toxic material legacy that the Cold War generated.
40 to 50 years to clean it up, if we get the technology developed
quickly.......Nancy and I will be married 33 years in March of 2001,
we never got around to starting a family, just dogs and toys. Nancy
retired from the Department of Energy in 98 and is enjoying doing
all the things that she missed for 29 years while she worked. She
started Nancy's Flowers and Gifts last year and is busier than ever.
She also spends time at a local hospital as a volunteer and was
leader of the "stich and bitch" group of her ladies club.
(I love that name for a group of middle aged women drinking coffee
solving the worlds problems) We still get back to the Valley as
Nancy's folks and sisters MaryJane and Donna and niece Stephanie
and nephew Joey are all still there.
